Abstract

This paper proposes an approach for generating S-boxes for symmetric encryption algorithms. The proposed approach is based on selecting a nonsingular matrix. The S-box was generated using the computational mechanism of the Rijndael algorithm. The computation process was based on finite field arithmetic. A nonsingular binary matrix was used in the affine transformation stage. The cryptographic properties of the generated S-box were analyzed. The nonlinearity results demonstrated high performance. The SAC values indicated strong diffusion characteristics. The obtained results confirmed resistance against differential and linear cryptanalysis. The proposed approach is characterized by high cryptographic efficiency.
