ORIGIN, COMPOSITION, AND CLASSIFICATION FEATURES OF BALNEOLOGICAL PELOIDS

Abstract

The article examines the concept of balneological peloids, their origin, genetic and compositional characteristics, and balneological classification. The specific characteristics, physicochemical composition, and therapeutic significance of peat, sapropel, sulfide, colloidal, and volcanic peloids are analyzed. The historical development of peloid therapy, its significance in modern balneology, and information on major peloid resorts in different countries are also presented. The article summarizes the natural-geographical distribution of peloids and the possibilities of their use for therapeutic purposes.
